A Little Bit About Foundations
In the early 1990's, mental health service providers were
focusing increasingly on mental health recovery. The benefits of peer
support, recommended by the surgeon general, the presidents mental
health commission, and groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, inspired the peer
support movement in mental health recovery.
The Stark County
Mental Health and Recovery Services Board provides funding to operate
Foundations, which is run by consumers and provides peer support, advisory board
experience, volunteer opportunities, and inter personal empowerment to Stark
County's consumer's. Foundations is not a clinical agency. The board, staff, and
members are in recovery, dedicated to living more satisfying lives, and to
helping others along the same path.it.
Greetings of the Season!
This month Foundations has many things on our calendar.
December 5th at 10:00 Carole Vesley from Crisis Intervention and Recovery Center will be here to discuss ways of Surviving the holiday season.
On December 9th at 4:00 Carole Vesley will be back for anyone who missed ways to Survive the Holiday season.
December 23rd is our Annual Holiday Party. We would like to Thank our community partners for making this event extra special this year. Val has been collaberating with Dueber United Methodist Church and Gary Zelonis and Marilyn Lord. We have a great many surprises in store for that day. We also have an anonymous person who has contacted the agency as she and her family would like to do something special. So many wonderful partnerships and relationships have been developing around here lately.
Although the holiday season can be chaotic and stressful we hope that this year you will slow down take a deep breath and just enjoy yourself. We wish you and yours a wonderful season filled with joy and beauty.
